Chalet Piplin is situated in Les Portes du Soleil – the largest ski domain in the world. There is superb skiing for every ability with open bowls, great tree lined runs and some wonderful off-piste. The summer months provide plenty of activities too, as the snow slowly disappears, walks, rambles and endless hikes become possible. Spectacular scenery, alpine flowers, mountain sun and fresh clean air make any day on the mountainside unforgettable.
We have skied the ‘Portes du Soleil’ for almost 25 years now, and still love it. It’s so vast that we don’t get bored – with 650kms of piste that would be difficult!
Ski the dedicated runs in Chapelle or link into the vast Portes du Soleil ski area from Chapelle, Chatel, Linga or Pre la Joux. Ski a circular route or head straight to Les Lindarets and the many runs in Avoriaz, Morzine and Les Gets. Ski the Swiss resorts of Champery, Champoussin, Les Crosets, Morgins and Torgon or alternatively you can drive over the Col de Corbier and head for La Grande Terche (St Jean d’Aulps), Avoriaz, Morzine or Les Gets.
The more adventurous and energetic can try climbing the “Via Ferrata” – just 5 minutes on foot from Chalet Piplin. Alternatively try mountain biking, paragliding, white water rafting, golfing or take a ride on “The Fantasticable” – a guaranteed thrill!
For the more sedate visitor there are many local villages to explore as well as those on the shore of Lake Geneva. Take a boat trip from the spa town of Evian, to Lausanne in Switzerland or along the coast to the medieval village of Yvoire. Venture to Montriand le Lac for Sunday lunch.
Sample the local culture by paying a visit to the local village markets. It is an experience not to be missed. Become part of the hustle and bustle of French living! In July, don’t miss the free firework display in Chatel in celebration of Bastille Day or in August “La Belle Dimanche” festival in Plaine Dranse.
